CheeksOnDuty Bot

CheeksOnDuty Bot is the live chat helper for Scotty's Birds and Beasts.

It keeps an eye on the YouTube live chat, helps track birds and animals seen on stream, answers viewer commands, and gives the channel a little extra personality while the backyard does what the backyard does.

The bot does not replace the wildlife. The wildlife remains proudly unmanaged.

What CheeksOnDuty Bot does

CheeksOnDuty Bot helps with:

• Tracking bird and animal species seen during the livestream

• Showing today's species list

• Keeping an all-time species count

• Picking a Bird of the Day from recently seen birds

• Logging fun stream moments, like Scotty sightings or camera zooms

• Helping moderators and approved viewers submit wildlife sightings

• Keeping chat commands organized without relying on a third-party chatbot service

The bot reads public YouTube live chat messages and responds only when viewers use supported commands.

The bot understands many common aliases, so some short names may still work.

Type: !help in the LiveStream Chat for a current command listing.

Some commands are limited to channel members, moderators, or approved users so the species lists stay accurate and the chat does not get spammed.
